Where it all began...

I began Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) in 2010 at the age of 10 at the Dominance Mixed Martial Arts (DMMA) Academy in Richmond, Melbourne Australia. At the age of 11 I competed for the first time in the Grappling Tournaments Australia (GTA) competition and came in 1st against two young boys. As I worked extremely hard and dedicated my time to Jiu Jitsu, I was moved into the DMMA adult class and became the assistant coach for the DMMA kid’s class. At the age of 15, whilst still, a juvenile white belt, I competed in and won my first adult blue belt competition (2015 Pan Pacific) with the fastest submission of the competition. At the age of 16, in June 2016, I attended my first World’s IBJJF event in LA and became World Champion Juvenile 2 (born in 1999) Blue Belt Light Weight Division.

"Hyperfly Australia is a generous, thoughtful and supportive family that i am proud to be a part of. They work incredibly hard day in, day out to support the Jiu Jitsu community and have an immense impact in making this sport what it is today in Australia" - Adele Fornarino

"Jiu Jitsu is not 'easy' for anyone. I am yet to meet someone that has trained Jiu Jitsu and said it was 'easy'. No one has magically walked into a gym on their first day and been the best person in the room. Every black belt, every competitor, every World Champion has been tapped at some point in their training. Jiu Jitsu is not 'easy' for anyone... But that is what makes it so AMAZING! The physical struggle is also what makes Jiu Jitsu so rewarding. And thats why us and so many people love it, and keep coming back!" - Adele Fornarino
